    • Fingerprint readersFingerprint readers Fingerprints are one of the oldest biometric identifiers. They have a set of characteristics, singular points and minutiae, that are unique to each individual and difficult to alter, making them reliable means of identification. Although fingerprint scanners are most commonly associated with law enforcement applications, their popularity has immensely grown since the beginning of the smartphone industry. Therefore, they became widely accessible in security industries, workplaces, and mobile devices for individual identification and access control. There are four types of fingerprint scanners: Optical scanners – the oldest fingerprint identification method capturing the fingerprint as a picture and then using algorithms to extract its characteristics. Capacitive or CMOS scanners – as the name suggests, they are using arrays of tiny capacitor circuits to collect data, connect them to conductive plates and track the characteristics of a fingerprint. Ultrasonic scanners – the newest method of capturing the fingerprint by analyzing ultrasonic pulse reflected from the fingerprint’s characteristics, such as ridges and pores. Thermal scanners – work by sensing the temperature differences between the contact surface and fingerprint characteristics. At Biometric Supply single, dual and 10 finger capture fingerprint scanners are available that use optical or capacitive technologies.

    • Dual finger capture
    • 10 finger capture
    • Palm capturePalm print readers Palm prints’ complex characteristics, such as ridges and palm lines, make it possible to provide a clear outcome. Therefore, palm prints and fingerprints are usually used together to ensure higher accuracy of individual identification. For this reason, palm print readers are most commonly used in law enforcement, homeland security and access control applications. Palm print recognition systems use optical, thermal or tactile methods to extract the characteristics of palm prints, including unique scars, creases and texture. At Biometric Supply optical palm print readers are available offering full and half-palm scans, four-finger slaps, dual thumbs and single rolled flat fingers.
    • Iris scannersIris scanners Since everyone’s irises have unique patterns and color shades, iris authentication is becoming more relevant these days. Neither glasses and contact lenses nor eye operations, such as cataract removal or corneal implants, are able to change their characteristics. Irises cannot be altered or modified, making them the ideal means of personal identification. For this reason, iris scanners are widely adopted in government practices, such as healthcare and civil identification, banking and finance, and immigration for identity management and access control applications. The iris scanners work by taking a photograph of an iris using standard and infrared lighting illuminating the unique patterns that are otherwise invisible to the naked eye. Once the photograph is stored in a database, authenticating an individual is quick and easy. At Biometric Supply single iris or dual iris capture scanners are available both for beginner and experienced biometrics device users, suitable for indoor or outdoor use.
